So great to see this. My dog Homer had back surgery a few months ago and he walked just like Hank is in this video. Do you have one of those wraps to help him walk, to keep his back end up? The more he walks the more he will exercise his legs. Both Homer and one of my other dogs Fred get acupuncture treatments as well. I don't know Hank's history (I saw you have a long post on it, but time is short today!), but you might want to look into that. Homer is SO much better (he actually had two surgeries within 3 days ... oy), and though I wouldn't let him do ANYTHING remotely stressing for 6 weeks following the surgery, and he's not allowed to jump up/down on high things anymore, he does what he wants now. Continued good luck with Hank.
oh my goodness. he's a big dog. how did you care for him while he was down?? our Hunter crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday . . . it looks similar to your dog. Hunter was 12 1/2 - 13 (not sure since he was a rescue). we're also older (55 & 61) so we weren't physically able to help him thru it if he were to get better. we put ourselves in a financial bind last year with 2 that had cancer. and it didn't help them. but now . . . this makes me question if we did the right thing.
Belinda I sent you a message on Facebook -- it could be i your "others" folder. Hank is only 7, and we are in our early 20's and I haven't been working-- I think we both made the right decisions for animals we love. Please don't feel guilty, it was so difficult on all of us. Especially Hank.
